A custom beach house on the Southport coast
3429 Scupper Run SE, Southport, NC 28461
Northstar's flagship — a raised coastal home built from the ground up on the southern North Carolina coast, looking out over the marsh and the waterway.
The project
Our latest and finest custom beach house
This is the crown of the business. A custom beach house at 3429 Scupper Run in Southport, built from the ground up — raised on pilings the way coastal homes have to be, and finished to the standard we want our name on.
It's the kind of high-end coastal work Northstar is built to do. Open vaulted living, a clean chef's kitchen, covered decks looking out over the marsh, and woodwork carried all the way through. When it sold for $1.25M, that was the value of building it right, start to finish.
This is the direction we're heading, and the kind of home we're looking to build more of. If you're planning something like it on the Southport or Oak Island coast, this is the work we do.
Outdoor living
Covered decks built for the marsh views
The whole back of the house opens to the water. Wide covered decks with wood-plank ceilings give you a place to sit out of the sun and still take in the marsh and the waterway. On a coastal home, the porch is half the reason you build, so we built it right.
Outdoor living
Long runs of covered porch, end to end
The decks run the length of the home. Clean railings, solid framing, and finishes picked to hold up to salt air and coastal weather. It's the kind of outdoor living that makes a beach house feel like a retreat instead of just a house near the water.
Living
Open, vaulted living with exposed beams
The main living space opens all the way up to the roofline, with exposed wood beams running across the vault. It pulls in the light and the height of a coastal home and gives the room real character. The kind of detail you only get when the woodwork is part of the build from the start.
Kitchen
A bright, clean chef's kitchen
A white chef's kitchen built around a generous island — room to cook, gather, and serve a full house of guests. Crisp cabinetry and finishes that fit a high-end coastal home, laid out to work for the way people actually live at the beach.
Primary suite
A primary suite under a vaulted ceiling
The primary suite carries the same vaulted ceiling and coastal light through the rest of the home. A quiet, finished retreat at the end of the day, built to the same standard as everything else under this roof.
Inside the home
A closer look at the Scupper Run build — exteriors, the coastal marsh setting, and the finished interiors throughout.
The result
